We’re getting busy!
We are so pleased with our advertising on The Knot! We have received so many requests for summer Weddings so far that we are having to turn people away! Please be aware it is best to reserve our services far in advance, at least two months prior to your wedding. We love to make sure that everything is exactly as you imagined for your reception entertainment and it does take time for us to do so!
If you haven’t checked it out yet, check out our profile here or visit us on our facebook page to receive more updates.
Thank you again for choosing The DJ Price for your upcoming event!
New Equipment, New Events
With the past couple weeks free of events, we have made several upgrades to my main party setup.
First, and foremost, I have traded in my old Dell Windows XP laptop for a brand new Mac Powerbook 15″ with a 2.4GHz processor. While I have been reluctant to convert to a different operating system and computer for a long time, the conversion has been smooth and hassle-free.
With the computer conversion and upgrade, I also retired my small and limited Behringer BCD-3000, and chose the Hercules DJ Console RMX. Several nice features pushed me to choose the RMX as a suitable replacement: integrated sound card allows for plug and play, the brushed steel build is solid and professional looking, support for two external inputs, multiple outputs simplifies running cords, and the mixer also supports cueing and mixing far better than the Behringer ever dreamed of.
I have also upgraded my subwoofer from a capable, but passive (needing a head unit or amp to power; consequently requiring more equipment to use), 12″ Alpine subwoofer, to a Gemini GVX-SUB15P 15″ 400w Powered Subwoofer. Gemini is the maker of both of my powered speakers, and offer great deals on all their equipment across the web. While the brand does not have the recognition as such JBL or Mackie, the speakers have served me well, and I hope the subwoofer will too.
While purchasing the Powerbook, I also purchased an iPad which I can use as an external input while DJing, but have already found far more useful applications for the touchscreen only device. Similar in all almost all ways except size to the iPod touch or iPhone, the iPad supports all former iDevice apps, as well as already having a large library of iPad only hi-res programs. Using several apps, both free and paid, I have converted almost all of my business operations to paperless with the iPad. Using the free app Dropbox, which gives you 2GB of free online storage, I have stored my contracts and questionnaires where they can be easily accessed by the iPad. With Apple’s word processor app Pages (basically a Pages lite version of Apple’s computer based Pages) I am able to fill out contracts pulled from Dropbox onscreen. Last, using a paid app called Autograph, I am able to capture a client’s signature and import it directly into the contract, and from there, I am able to email completed and signed contracts to the client, allowing us both to have a easily found, copied, and stored document.
I feel spoiled with all this new equipment, but all will hopefully help simplify and better my DJing and organization. One of my main motivations in moving toward Apple but the promise of hassle free hookups and communication between my mixer and computer, as well as having a faster and less crash prone. While it will take time before I can really report on crashing, I have had zero problems thus far, AND had my mixer up and playing music ten minutes after I pulled it out of the package. I was lucky if anything I did with my old computer and mixer took under ten minutes. That, right there, has been enough to justify the purchase alone.
All of these equipment upgrades are useless without a party to rock of course, and June is already shaping up to not disappoint. I will be playing a variety of venues, beginning the 5th with a graduation party in Kent County. From there I will be DJing an employee party for the Chester River Hospital Center on June 12th, before DJing at Sheraton BWI for a wedding on the 18th.
If you are throwing a party, organizing a dance, or planning your wedding, there are still plenty of dates available this summer and fall to book my services. Be sure to click the contact tab on the website for inquiries and information!

Kelbaugh Wedding – Windy but Romantic
This past weekend we were at the Kelbaugh Wedding where although the ceremony was very windy, it heated up inside at the reception! We had a portable speaker and mic with stand out for the ceremony outside and did our entire set up with our new lights indoors at the reception hall in Chestertown, MD.
The lights were a hit! Take a look at the dancing when the lights dimmed and our party lights came on:
We would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Kelbaugh for a great evening and wish them the best as they start their married life together!
Let wedding season begin!
We just had our first wedding for 2010 last night and had a blast. We now have a full-time emcee for wedding announcements, introductions, and more! Need someone to help direct the flow of your wedding? Let us do it for you!
We’ll be posting pictures of the event by the end of the week. We even used our new lighting effects and the dance floor looked great!
ZTA!
We’ll be deejaying for the ZTA formal out in Galena, MD this evening. These girls are always a bunch of fun to play for!
Do you have a sorority or fraternity that’s having a formal and needs a DJ? Give us a call! We’re affordable and hassle-free.
